☆ - On the hunt
POSTED ON Friday, February 22, 2013 AT 10:04 PM \\
I was supposed to post this entry a few hours ago but the internet stopped working. ;--; But it's back now so I'm going to try posting it again~
I discovered this morning that I could not return the two products that I bought yesterday (which I talked about in my previous entry), so I was a bit saddened but it's alright, maybe my sisters will be able to use them. So earlier I decided to go hunt for more lipsticks and mascara. I went to two stores and came home with 4 lipsticks and 2 mascaras in all, ahaha. I couldn't decide which mascara to get so that's why I got 2. As for the lipsticks, I liked all those colors. But before I tried anything, I figured I would read reviews online first and that's what I did when I got back to the apartment. The products I bought were 2 of the Maybelline Color Sensational Vivids lipsticks (Shocking Coral and On Fire Red), the Maybelline Volum'Express Mascara in Blackest Black, the CoverGirl Lash Blast Volume mascara, the Rimmel Moisture Renew lipstick in Rouge, and the Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Lipstick in number 11. (Which I was soo happy to find because I've been looking for a dark red lipstick for a while now!)
I only wanted to get the Vivids lipsticks because they're all nice and bright colors, and they're all the rage right now, but after careful thinking I realized I would not be able to pull off those colors so I've put them back in the bag and will be returning them tomorrow, along with the Maybelline mascara just because the reviews online we're all mostly bad ones. Good thing I didn't try any of these items.
The lipsticks I chose to keep were the Rimmel ones, and I tried the Rouge one first since it's lighter than the number 11. Before I applied it to my lips, I was quite skeptical that I would be able to pull it off. I'm still a scaredy-cat when it comes to red, even though I love red lipstick. Odd...
Anyway, here's what it looks like on my lips.
(Agh, sorry for the bad bathroom lighting again. I can assure you that this lipstick appears red on my lips. However, when I was wiping it off it shows a magenta shade on the tissue paper...) It goes on a little dry, which is strange, but it might have been my lips that were the issue. I ended up liking the color so I decided to keep it.
I tried the number 11 lipstick next. I was even more hesitant about this one because it's a dark red; I didn't know how dark reds would look on me. But I tried it and I liked it!
(I switched to standing by my window for this photo. Yeah, I'm gonna do that from now on if it's still light outside. Why didn't I think of this before, hm.)
This lipstick is red, I don't know why it shows up as a dark magenta in the photo. o.o It goes on very smoothly, but unfortunately, I was a little disappointed because it's not as dark as I was hoping it would be, since it looks dark in the tube. Another downside of this lipstick is that it's very hard to remove. That can be a good or a bad thing. I was trying to take it off with tissue and water and it spread out to my chin and the lower parts of my cheeks, it was all over. I tried to wipe off as much as I could and my lips were still stained, and just a few minutes ago I wiped my lips again and product still came off. /major sigh I'm still going to keep it though because I like how it looks on me. Sadly, this means that I still need to find a dark red lipstick.
The CoverGirl mascara has higher ratings than the Maybelline mascara, so I thought I would keep that one. I tried it on after I tried the 2 lipsticks that I'm keeping. It really lengthens my short lashes. It doesn't provide that much volume, but that's probably because I don't have that many lashes to work with. So it might work with falsies. However, I don't know why, but this mascara is hard to remove. For me, at least. I've used a few eye makeup remover pads on the lashes of each eye and even as I type this post right now, I can still touch my lashes and there will be product on my finger. The mascara I got is non-waterproof so I don't understand why it's hard to remove like this.
Well, until next time!

doesn't mean that it's a great product! This is what I learned today, when I should have learned it a long time ago. /facepalm
When I went grocery shopping earlier today, I noticed that several brands of makeup were on sale for 25% off. So of course I had to make my way to the makeup aisle after I finished shopping for groceries. I spent a bit of time in the aisle deciding what to buy, and at first I grabbed a lipstick, but I put it back when I ended up deciding on the Revlon Nearly Naked Pressed Powder in Light/Pale, and the L'oreal Telescopic Shocking Extensions mascara in Blackest Black.
I read reviews online when I got home and became a bit wary of the products, but I thought I would try them to see if they work out for me. I tried them on separately before I showered, the powder first then the mascara. I did not like either of them. I have dry skin that flakes a lot, and I remembered to exfoliate my face and apply moisturizer and primer before applying the powder, but the powder just brought out flakes on my face and made them more visible. It's visible to the point that they would be really noticeable if I were to go out in public with this powder on. (I've been using Bare Minerals for a while, and although I do get dry patches when I apply my Bare Minerals powder, it doesn't look as bad as this.) The shade I got is supposed to be light/pale but it's not; it shows on my skin as a darker tint, not orange, but a tan-ish color. Plus, I didn't put on much, but my skin felt tight, somewhat heavy, and dull. This was a bad product, or maybe it just wasn't right for me. I didn't like it at all.
I wiped my face clean of the powder and tried the mascara. Was I not thinking clearly at the store or something, because why in the world did I think that separated lashes would be a good look for me? This mascara really does separates and lengthen lashes as it claims. It doesn't provide volume (it doesn't claim that it does, anyway). I tried one coat and I was disappointed with the result. The separated lashes look doesn't work for me at all. With my short, sparse lashes, this mascara was just not the one. I need to go on another mascara hunt when I head to a drug store for more lipstick. I don't know why, but I've been so obsessed with lipstick lately...
Well, I'm going to try to return these two products tomorrow and hopefully I'll be able to.

POSTED ON Friday, February 15, 2013 AT 11:46 PM \\
Since my first entry on this blog, I've been forgetting to update on the products I bought at Ulta recently. NYX's Super Skinny Eye Marker in Carbon Black is true to what the reviewers online said: it isn't black enough--it's more like a dark gray--and it dries too quickly, which makes it harder to apply more to get the look or effect you want. The two Smashbox Be Legendary Lipsticks I bought are great colors, but not on me, unfortunately. I had to decide on which one to return so I ended up keeping Tempt Me and returning Melondrama, along with the eyeliner.
I've been wanting to try a red lipstick (I've never worn red on my lips before) so when I got to Ulta, I figured I would look around first to see if I could find a berry or dark red that would hopefully complement my skin tone. (I'm not ready for bright red yet, haha.) Well, I looked through several brands of lipsticks and I could not find one that was the color I was looking for. So I just returned the eyeliner and the lipstick and headed out to go grocery shopping.
After I shopped for groceries I stopped by the cosmetics aisle to see if I could find a red lipstick that I wanted to try. I saw quite a few that I liked, and I ended up having to choose between 4 different shades of red from the Maybelline Color Sensational Lipcolor collection. At first I thought I would buy two lipsticks, but I just bought one after much consideration. The shade I decided I would try was Red Revival.
And I just tried it on before I took my shower, and wow, do I like how it looks on me! It's true that red lipstick makes your teeth look whiter. While I had it on my lips, I kept wanting to smile even though I have ugly teeth, haha. I think this lipstick is more of a dark red than a berry red. I haven't been able to figure out what a berry red shade is supposed to look like.
Well here's a photo of what the lipstick looks like on my lips.
(Sorry for the bad yellow lighting, the shade really is a red and not fuschia or magenta, although when wiping it off it looks magenta. Or maybe it's my natural lip color plus this lipstick that makes it look the way it does, I dunno.)
I started watching a K-drama called Glass Mask two days ago, and I am hooked. The first episode was so intense and sad that I cried. If a drama can already make me cry on the first episode then it's a keeper. The only downside to this drama is that it'll be 100+ episodes, and it's still airing right now. There's about 96 episodes out though so I have something to watch when there are no new and subbed episodes of Flower Boy Next Door or Queen of Ambition. I've cried a few more times while watching this drama, and I know that it will make me cry more as the story continues. It's gotten even more interesting because now the girls are older--seniors in high school, I think--and Yi Kyung, the nice one, has two cuties (one cuter than the other) vying for her attention. I just wish the mean girl, Seo Yeon or whatever, was nicer because the actress is pretty but her character's so so absolutely, incredibly ridiculous (to put it nicely) that I want to stab her in her pretty face.
The other day Nu'est released the music video for their song "Hello" and although there are kissing scenes in the video (wae JR wae?!) it was a good video and I love the song. I also checked out the other songs on their mini but I didn't really like them. Maybe I need to listen to them again because I wasn't really paying attention the first time, oops.
Teen Top also released their new music video and I thought that the video was better than the song? Haha. It's a bit random, what with Chunji eating cans and cans of pineapple slices, and Niel salsa-dancing by himself, for example. But the song feels weak to me. I think lackluster would be the right word to describe it. Since it's a full album, I hope the other songs will make up for what this one lacks. I
really hope so.

(to quote Bang Yong Guk in "One Shot" ahaha)
Wow, today has been one K-pop-filled day!
After I ate dinner at the dining hall, I came back and took an early shower so that I could take a nap. I woke up approximately 3 hours later, and was bombarded with releases! B.A.P's new stuff came out, and so did Teen Top's music video teaser. I hadn't checked my personal Twitter timeline in a few days, too, so I had to play catch-up for a while before I could check out the new releases.
Their music video for "One Shot" really impressed me. It was better than I thought it would be. The choreo is interesting, too, especially Zelo's solo dance. I liked the song at first, but once I listened to the other songs on the album, I thought those songs were better than "One Shot." However, for the past half hour, I've been listening to "One Shot" over and over, and it has grown on me. (I'm even listening to it right now as I type this entry.) I've concluded that all of the songs on this album are awesome--I really like "Coma"--and I am so tempted to buy the album on Kpoptown. SO TEMPTED.
The teaser for their music video is lacking something, in my opinion, but I don't know what. However, since I always like their releases I'm sure the full thing won't disappoint. Plus, this album of theirs will be a full one, so I'm really debating whether I should buy it or not. I even checked Kpoptown and YesAsia, but neither sites have put it up for pre-order yet. ;; Maybe they will soon so that I can make my decision.
While I was busy reblogging gifs of B.A.P on Tumblr, I didn't notice that Nu'est released another teaser for their music video. This one is with the members that didn't appear in the first teaser, Aron, Baekho, and Ren. Plus the girl, of course. Since they were in or around a bathtub, this teaser felt more sensual than the first. From what I've read, it's Minhyun who's singing in the teaser audio, and he sounds so good. Hopefully the full song won't deviate much from what we hear in the teasers, because I am liking how it sounds so far.
A few hours ago I managed to watch the latest episode of "Flower Boy Next Door," episode 11, and omgah, the kiss at the end! Their lips were only touching but it was still so cute. And the preview for episode 12 is soo adorable, I had so many feels and my arms were flailing around. I felt like squealing but I couldn't! It seems that Enrique and Dok Mi will start dating and they looked so happy and adorable together. I SHIP THEM SO HARD OK.

Nope. Nothing clever comes to mind.
All joking aside, I made this blog so that I can have a place to talk about my daily life. Back when I was in middle school through high school, Xanga was popular with my school friends and I so I regularly updated my Xanga about my life. Even though I used Xanga for years, I could not commit to it, because I found myself using LiveJournal as well. Maybe now, with this new blog, I can find a place that I will be able to commit to. I've used Blogger/Blogspot before, so this isn't particularly new to me. The look of the website has upgraded but other than that everything is the same, even my account with all of my old blogs that I left to collect dust. Instead of using LJ to post my Exo plot bunnies and photos of things I've purchased, I will try to start doing that on Blogger, and we'll see where I go from there.

Hello there, thank you for stopping by my humble abode. My name is Mercy, and I am a 22-year-old Vietnamese female. I'm currently majoring in nursing in hopes of becoming an RN in the future. I have 3 younger siblings. I was born and raised in the United States, and still live here, although I would like to move to another country (Vietnam? South Korea? Japan?) when I'm older. I love to sleep, read, write, listen to music, watch dramas, and shop. I've been a K-pop fan since 2004. My top favorite groups are DB5K, Exo, U-Kiss, and BTOB, but I love many other groups as well. My weaknesses are anything cute/kawaii, even cute packaging can get to me. Since I'm busy with school or coursework, the only time I have to watch dramas is when I eat. The dramas I'm currently watching are Flower Boy Next Door and Queen of Ambition. (Both frustrate me so much but the latter more than the former.) A site I'm on almost all of the time is Tumblr; it's a bad addiction, so avoid getting started if you can. I could always make more friends, so if you don't mind, please contact me on here or on Twitter and let's become friends! My only warning is that I stan Exo so I tweet/RT about them almost 24/7. :P
